BEHIND THE LENS &

THE IMAGE

After MBA, life for me started out as it does for thousands of people in the rungs of corporate ladder. I worked as an HR with an investment banking firm for 5 years. But one experience, one safari with a DSLR in my hands changed my life forever in ways that I couldn't have imagined in my wildest of dreams. I quit my job and dived into wildlife photography full time. It has since been my aim to inspire and make a difference through creative photography and storytelling. From the comfort of the van on jungle safaris, to the shortness of breath on the Himalayas, from conquering the fear of bugs as I was crouched in caves to approaching snakes at a kissing distance, from the blistering heat of Ranthambore in May to the sub zero temperatures of the Thar in December, the journey that started in 2018 has been filled with learnings, as I continued to add experiences, stories and photographs to my portfolio.

My accomplishments are modest but very valued. In 2020, I was a people’s choice nominee selected by the Natural history museum, London for their wildlife photographer of the year awards. Having a picture included in the Natgeo best of 2018 list of photographs, winning the 2nd position in Monochrome awards 2019 in wildlife category along with an honourable mention, honourable mentions in Monovision awards for 2 images in 2020 have also been very special, encouraging and humbling for me. I have also had my pictures and write ups published in WildlifeIndia Magazine, RG Sustain digital magazine and the TED organisation.

It couldn't be further away from the truth if I said this journey has been mine and the accomplishments, however big or small, mine alone. Along this path, I have had the opportunity to meet some amazing individuals, who in their own right and capacity have devoted and dedicated their lives to conservation and preservation of our precious planet. Every wildlife image in my portfolio has behind it some unsung heroes, be it guides, rangers, rescuers, conservationists or just peaceful neighbours.

I will forever be indebted to them!

While I continue to pursue my passion in photography, today I also freelance as a content writer, developing written content for filmmakers and photographers primarily in the nature, travel and wildlife space.
